Welcome to our first eNews of the year — it’s been a while since we connected this way. VSV Life celebrates the learning, wellbeing and connections that make our school special. From virtual learning to face-to-face events, our programs help students and families see the bigger picture of life at VSV, wherever learning happens.

Our face-to-face events have been a highlight this year. The recent Primary Connect Day brought our youngest students together for a curriculum-focused, hands-on science incursion, fostering connections and curiosity. Similarly, the Middle Years camp, Connect Week, and VCE Subject Fair provided immersive experiences for middle and senior students alike, offering opportunities to explore pathways, develop skills, and build lasting relationships with peers and staff. This week, we have warmly welcomed students in the Victorian High Abilities Program onsite for masterclass events.

Student and parent wellbeing remain central to our mission. Our Parent Wellbeing article of this edition focusses on strategies for supporting your child when they are exposed to upsetting news in the digital world while caring for your own wellbeing.

In addition to our own programs, we’re pleased to share an external opportunity for students receiving NDIS support. The Zoo Crew program at Wild Action ZooHQ in Macedon offers hands-on experience in wildlife care for self-motivated learners. This initiative complements classroom learning and reflects the many pathways students can take to explore their interests and build confidence, reinforcing our belief that success is achieved in many different ways.

Our School Council, formed just three years ago, brings parents, staff and community members together to guide our school’s direction. We invite you to read the full article that explains the Council’s role and how families can contribute, ensuring decisions reflect our community’s needs and voices.

A final message for our senior students as you head into the VCE exam period:

remember exams, whilst important, are just one part of your VCE assessments and your life. You’ve already shown resilience, effort, and growth—now is your chance to let that shine. We’re proud of you and cheering you on every step of the way.

Warm regards,

Fiona Webster
