Mad About Science: Primary Connect Day

shape-type-3
Ed. 1, 2025 – Mad About Science

Late in Term 3, our primary students took part in a Mad About Science incursion, working in groups with a scientist to create and observe experiments. Bringing together all of our primary students meant that the program needed to effectively engage and challenge ages 5-12. They enjoyed games, made observations, and took part in a variety of interactive activities including microscopy, paper chromatography, pH indicator testing, and even ‘Potato Clock’ making, where they took their hand to circuitry! Places were limited and student-funded, which made the experience even more meaningful for the curious young minds who joined in.

Like our VCE Subject Fair, these onsite events at VSV in Thornbury are an important way for our youngest learners to come together. They help students build friendships, strengthen their sense of belonging, and enjoy learning alongside their peers and teachers. And of course, the picnic lunch with friends was a highlight for many before saying goodbye!

We encourage parents and carers to look out for details of the Term 4 Primary Connect excursion in their inbox. These events are a wonderful chance for your child to learn, connect, and have fun with like-minded students.
