Personal Development Skills Units 3 and 4
Overview
During Unit 3 and 4 Personal Development Skills, you’ll learn how to work well with others and make a difference in your community. You’ll explore leadership, teamwork and how to plan and implement a community project. These units focus on communication, collaboration and taking-action on important issues.
Unit 3: Leadership and Teamwork
In this unit, you will:
- Learn about leadership qualities and what makes an effective leader.
- Explore how to work well in a team and contribute to achieving shared goals.
- Participate in community projects where you’ll practice leading and working as part of a team.
- Reflect on your own contribution and how well the team worked together.
Unit 4: Community Project
In this unit, you will:
- Choose a community issue that matters to you, such as environmental or social areas of concern.
- Plan and implement community projects to raise awareness or create positive change around the issues.
- Research the issues, learn from past examples and decide on the best way to take-action.
- Present your community project and evaluate how effective your efforts were in addressing the issue.
By the end of these units, you’ll have gained valuable skills in leadership, teamwork and community engagement. You’ll have the experience of planning and implementing community project that makes a real impact on an issue you care about. These skills you develop as a result of planning implementing and evaluating a number of community projects will help you in future endeavours, both in school and in the wider world.
Who is it for?
Personal Development Skills is for students who:
- Enjoy applying their knowledge and skills in practical settings such as workplaces, community-based activities and through project work
- Are aiming to move into an apprenticeship, traineeship, employment, further training or university via an alternative entrance program
- Are undertaking a VET course.

You will be required to regularly submit tasks in order to demonstrate your understanding of each of the learning outcomes for throughout the course.
Please note that evidence of learning is a requirement to obtain a satisfactory result.

You are encouraged to make a commitment to completing classwork and meet submissions deadlines so that you establish sound study and learning habits.
