“That’s so cool,” is how fellow riders responded to Year 11 student, Mia, when she told them she was representing Virtual School Victoria at the PETstock2024 Equestrian Victoria Interschool State Championships.

Mia, who has been riding horses since she was six, said her proudest achievement at the competition was getting her horse, Quinta, around some very tough tracks.

“When I registered for the competition, Quinta and I had only competed at the 1.10 metre height. But I love a challenge, so we entered in the 1.20 metre category. We jumped around some tough 1.20-1.25 metre tracks and finished 5th overall!” she enthused.

Mia said it was rewarding seeing the progress she has made with her horse and reaching new goals.

“There is no feeling like the one you get when your horse gives their all for you”

The flexibility of VSV allows Mia to combine VCE with equestrian training and being coached on showjumping and training horses.

“I love working with horses. Having more time to develop my passion allows me to get a taste of what I may do as a career after school,” she said.

Congratulations Mia!
