A small group of Year 10 History students recently explored the Shrine of Remembrance on St Kilda Road in Melbourne. Focused on World War I, especially the Gallipoli campaign, the students gained insights into the soldiers’ experiences.

During the visit, the students toured exhibits and learned about the history of Gallipoli. The excursion prompted reflection on why it’s important to commemorate war. The group also discussed the impact of war.

The Shrine’s symbolic features, like the eternal flame, sparked meaningful conversations about honoring and remembering those who served.

The Shrine is Victoria’s national memorial that honours the service and sacrifice of Australians in war and peacekeeping.
