Year 10 student, Adam, recently rose to the challenge in his Food and Technology class where he had to make cupcakes for a hypothetical afternoon tea with his classmates.

A classic swirl frosting on a fluffy raspberry and white chocolate cupcake earned Adam praise from teacher Tracey.

‘Adam demonstrated his existing skill of cake-making but also showcased new skills – icing and decorating a cake. His rose-colored buttercream icing – topped with brown sugar crystals – was creative and relevant to the target audience. His decorating skills transformed a plain cupcake into a mouth-watering creation, that I’m sure would be appreciated by his classmates,’ enthused Tracey.

Each week Food and Technology students are given a different design brief to respond to.

Adam said that this component of the course “made things interesting” and he enjoyed making some food “I didn’t think I would ever make.”
