VSV’s Year 5 and 6 students were recently invited to team with Greg Lampard as part of CSIRO’s STEM Professionals program. Students worked with Greg, a scientist, to learn more about science in everyday life and be inspired to pursue further learning in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
Students were encouraged to draw a scientist and explain what they thought science was. Alysha succinctly described science as “experimenting, investing and researching.”
When students met Greg, they learned a little bit about how the internet works. In a second session, they explored the science in music and investigated how different notes were created by vibrations described as ‘hertz’.
