Paper planes abounded at the recent F-6 Virtual Connect, where Flight was the theme.
The event was a huge success, with almost 60 students attending.
The students initially gathered via Webex as one large group, but broke into two groups after a welcome by Principal Brett New and the Primary team.
Students in Years 3-6 attended a virtual excursion to Questacon – the National Science and Technology Centre in Canberra – called Foldable Flight, while F-2 students created helicopters and learnt about flight with their teachers. Both groups made paper planes which they all shared with each other after morning-tea.
Opportunities to learn more about flight were provided to students who wanted to challenge themselves with instructions for making a range of paper planes, a paper kite and a box kite. Students could upload photos and videos of their planes onto a Padlet for others to view and comment on.
F-9 Virtual Connect coincided with National Science Week.
