

Year 8 Economics and Business
Overview
We explore the way individuals, families, the community, workers, businesses and governments make decisions in the markets that make up the Australian economy.
We explore the business world through the example of a circus and circus performers.
What do you do?
This course helps you understand economic and business decision-making at a personal, local, national and global level. It also looks at the effect of these decisions have, now and in the future.
You will build an enterprise portfolio with evidence of a range of entrepreneurial skills and attributes. You will also investigate your neighbourhood economy and explore some entrepreneurial success stories. You also create a business plan for a small business start-up.
What skills do you develop?
To prepare you for the future, you will develop a range of enterprise skills and aptitudes. These include:
- decision making
- problem solving
- leadership
- communication and organisation
- ability to work cooperatively
- managing resources and people.
You will also gain skills in consumer and financial literacy.
Over the course, you will update your enterprise skills portfolio and collect evidence of your developing skills.
Requirements
Internet is needed to access this course. Work will be completed and submitted online weekly.
