
Year 8 Design Technology (Materials)
Overview
In this subject, you will be working through the design process as a board game designer. This will see us conducting market research, learning about materials, exploring production processes and sketching design ideas before making a physical prototype of your very own board game design.
What do you do?
- Learn 2D and 3D manual drawing and rendering techniques.
- Investigate different materials and manufacturing processes, learning how to assess their suitability for different designs.
- Examine the impact of technologies on society, including considerations like sustainability.
- Research design work of First Nations Australian designers.
- Use Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to make 3D virtual prototypes.
- Develop an understanding of the design elements and principles and apply this knowledge to create graphic designs.
- Learn about and follow the design process.
- Respond to the considerations and constraints of a design brief.
- Follow a production plan to create a physical prototype.
