Parent/Carer Wellbeing – Supporting Safe Connections
Bullying No Way Week (17-23 August) is a national initiative that encourages school communities to work together to create safe, respectful and inclusive learning environments where every student feels they belong.
At VSV, we know that creating a positive online learning environment is a shared responsibility between students, families and staff. We also recognise that, from time to time, things can go wobbly. When they do, it’s important that students and families know where to turn for support and how concerns can be raised.
Earlier this year, we shared Working Together for Safe Online Engagement, outlining VSV’s duty of care, the support available to students and families, and the appropriate pathways for reporting concerns and seeking assistance. If you haven’t had an opportunity to read it, or would like a refresher, we encourage you to revisit the article.
As we look ahead to Bullying No Way Week, we’re also inviting students to have their say through a short four-question survey. Their responses will help us better understand what contributes to a positive online school community and what helps students feel safe, respected and included.
The survey asks students to reflect on questions such as:
- Which topics would help create a respectful online community?
- What makes someone a great online classmate?
- What could VSV do to help every student feel they belong?
- Complete the sentence: “Everyone belongs at VSV when…”
There are no right or wrong answers—just an opportunity for students to share their ideas and experiences.
We encourage parents and carers to talk with their child about the survey and support them to participate. Every response helps us continue building a school community where kindness, respect and inclusion are part of everyday learning.
