A group of brave VSV primary students and their families took on Melbourne’s famously unpredictable weather earlier this term to enjoy a day at Bundoora Park Farm, and what a day it was!
Connect Days are gold; they give our youngest learners a chance to meet face-to-face, share new experiences, and bring their learning to life beyond the screen. Between patting guinea pigs, feeding sheep, goats and llamas, and taking a trailer ride through the native animal reserve, the students weren’t just observing, they were living their learning about sustainability, community, and care for the environment.
Fred, one of our Grade 6 students and Student Representative Council members, said:
We had tons of fun! There were guinea pigs which we got to pat and hold (they are so furry and are just lil’ balls of fluff), llamas (very cheeky ones at that!), alpacas, sheep, a lovely rabbit, and some pigs. We went on a tractor ride and saw some emus! The excursion guide showed us a shiny green emu egg. It was quite interesting to see what it looked like. We even got to touch & feel it! We also saw kangaroos and some other Australian wildlife! We asked a lot of questions as well. We got to chat with our friends and say ‘hello’. Afterwards, we had fun playing around in the park. Overall, it was quite a fun excursion. We loved seeing all the animals and learning about them. It was so fun, and I really loved it! Thanks, VSV, for bringing us to the farm!
Our Primary and Inclusion staff are to be commended for making this enriching experience possible.
