Year 11s celebrate end of year at Strike

Year 11 VSV students recently celebrated the end of their first year of VCE with an exciting day out at Strike Bowling in Melbourne Central. Joined by VSV staff and coordinators, students tackled escape rooms and showcased their bowling skills while connecting with classmates in a fun, relaxed environment.

The event provided a rare opportunity for students to meet peers in person, many for the first time. As Sebastian reflected, “The bowling was the highlight—it was physical and strategic, and I got to interact with students my age, which was amazing.”

Declan enjoyed the collaborative aspect of the day. “I found the escape room enjoyable as it helped us work together and I found it fun. It was nice talking to other kids as it helped me grow and not get isolated from the school program,” he said.

Arabella agreed, noting the day was “an incredible way to celebrate our achievements, reconnect with familiar faces, and make new connections.”

For Jasmine, the day was all about feeling comfortable and making friends. “I felt very comfortable during both the escape room and bowling, and it was great to spend time with other VCE students.”

Kenya had similar sentiments, reflecting, “It was awesome getting three strikes in a row and cheering everyone else on. The non-judgmental vibe made me feel safe and accepted.”

Wishing all our Year 11 students a smooth transition to Year 12!
