Today is R U OK Day? This national day of action reminds us that every day is the day to ask “Are you OK?”
The pandemic has challenged people over the past 18 months, so we need to look out for one another and check in on the people in our world. We need to live two key VSV values – kindness and empathy.
You can ask someone if they are OK by following the below four steps:
- Ask
- Listen
- Encourage action
- Check in.
If you would like more support to do this please visit How to ask “Are you OK?”. You can also look at these resources from the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) Centre for Adolescent Health.
If professional help is required beyond the resources listed by RCH, parents/carers are encouraged to talk with the practitioners who are already supporting their children, or with their GPs.
If you are concerned about the way circumstances are impacting on school activities, speak to the Learning Advisor who is supporting your students or contact the school’s wellbeing team by emailing [email protected]
Make a difference in someone’s life today and ask them if they are OK.
