High ability Years 5-8 students at all Victorian State schools are set to benefit from the State Government’s $60.2 million investment in the new Student Excellence Program.
Virtual School Victoria will develop and deliver intensive ten-week online courses for almost 50,000 high performing Years 5-8 students as part of the new program.
Principal Bretton New said the announcement demonstrates a high-level of confidence in VSV as the state’s leading virtual school.
“The Student Excellence Program is a significant investment and the first of its kind in Australia. VSV is excited to be involved in another ground-breaking project that positively impacts Victorian students,” he said.
Principal New also stressed the importance of challenging high ability students.
“Students are more likely to reach their full potential when they are engaged and challenged.”
In addition to delivering the Student Engagement Program, VSV will also be pioneering a Senior Secondary Student Preparatory Virtual Learning Course. This initiative, which is an introduction to VSV’s virtual and blended leaning programs, is part of the State Government’s VCE Expansion into Rural and Regional Victoria Initiative.
The Student Excellence Program is scheduled to roll-out in Term 3 of 2020.
