Scene one –
Showing a glimpse of Emma’s daily after school routine, the camera follows her entering her grand, luxurious home, Cameras scanning her face before letting her enter. Her polished shoes squeaking against the freshly mopped tiles and a voiceover speaking her thoughts
‘“City school is so overrated, (Her cook places her favourite dish in front of her, but she doesn’t touch it. Instead her eyes drift off somewhere else…) The dark side…It calls out to me, I wish, I just wish I could grasp a little snippet of their lives, how they’re living in such tragical conditions, how they’re living lives of the people who have betrayed us, the lives of people who are now in punishment for the actions they’ve taken against our society, our principles, that they do not deserve the things we do, How I long to ask them…
“Do you regret it?”
Yes I realise how privileged I am…and you may ask why would I even want to explore? It’s because all my life I’ve been trapped on one side of the story. I never had a choice to hear the other side, to decide for myself, to understand which side was right, I’ve never been taught what or why or even whose in the wrong of this great battle She exhales in frustration of all the questions building up in her mind, weighing her body down all I know… is that they’ve done something terrible that we can never ever speak about? So many questions. (her appetite has suddenly vanished and is replaced by something more powerful, more intriguing, curiosity.)
Scene two –
Switch perspectives to Thomas, out hunting in a luscious green forest, and his voiceover speaking his mind “It’s been five days since the last morsel graced my lips, five days since we set out in search of meals to support our families…not just the women and children, but even our soldiers who came back in defeat, their bravery unhonored and discarded so casually, by the cruel monsters on the other side of this horrific war…
But if you were to ask me, would I do it again? If I had the chance to fight for BASIC human rights these savages have snatched away from us, would I fight again? Yes. Without a single doubt…” Thomas pauses, looking at the humongous wall- a brutal symbol of division separating him and the enemy with a burning fire fueled by hatred and justice, that even after everything has refused to burn out, he points his arrow towards the prey, his jaw clenches. The arrow flies through the air creating an ear-piercing whistle, symbolizing the release of heavy tension.
Scene three –
Emma is going for a run around her neighbourhood, the camera follows her from a side angle along a bustling street voiceover starting again
“The only thing that’s stopping me from crossing over to that side is the war. The devastating war. Well not only the war, I guess the giant wall that surrounds and ‘protects’ us is a pretty big factor too, but that was put because of the war. The violence, the cruelty, the horror. They ignited. That’s what is stopping me, stopping us from being a harmonious city. They caused it. Therefore, to answer my own question “Do they regret it?” I hope they do. I’ll make sure they do-”
Emma bumps into a pram, the baby starts crying, Anxious music plays, she gasps snapping back into reality she clumsily apologises, rushing into a building, the babies mother cursing her, cradling her baby.
Emma walks into this government property, at least that’s what she thinks it is based on the people in white coats, working in closed labs. She walks further into the building the Camera showing these new complex sci-fi technology these people in white coats are using…Then she comes across a Glass window…Someone’s inside. A boy, tied up with tubing all over him, attached to a hospital bed. Thomas?… She squints reading the label on the window “Thomas experiment 14…” “HEY! YOU! OUT NOW!” Emma tries running away, however everything abruptly blacks out…
