During Term 3, VSV welcomed Robbie and Tia from Victoria Police to speak with our Middle Years students about staying safe online.
The session explored practical ways students can protect themselves, their friends and their families when using social media, gaming platforms and other online spaces. Robbie and Tia also reinforced the importance of knowing where to go for help if something online feels unsafe or uncomfortable.
A key message was that students do not have to manage these situations on their own. Trusted adults, family members, teachers and police are there to listen, support and help.
Students were also encouraged to think carefully about the information they share online and how small choices can help protect their privacy.
Being aware of what they post, who can see it and how personal information might be used can make a meaningful difference to staying safe online.
Robbie and Tia were really impressed by how engaged students were with this important topic and thanked them for their thoughtful questions and involvement in the session.
