Attitudes to School Survey – Supporting Your Child to Take Part

shape-type-3

Your child will have received information about this year’s Attitudes to School Survey. We encourage all students to take part.

The survey gives students the opportunity to share their views about their school experience. Their feedback helps us understand what is working well, where students feel supported, and where we can continue to improve.

For example, in our 2024 results:

  • Sense of Connectedness: 61.2% of VSV students in Years 7–12 gave a positive response, compared with 46.9% across the state.
  • Management of Bullying: 60.5% of VSV students in Years 7–12 gave a positive response, compared with 47.6% across the state.

Feedback like this helps us understand where VSV is making a difference and where we need to keep listening and improving.

Your encouragement can make a difference—please support your child to complete the survey. Students are reminded to refer to the ‘2026 AtoSS’ email that included their unique survey student ID and log-in information. (These are different to VSV log-in credentials.)

How students can complete the survey

Over the coming weeks, teachers will provide opportunities for students to complete the survey with guidance.

Some families may prefer to organise a time at home when their child can complete it without interruption.

Your child may need practical help to get started, such as:

  • logging in
  • setting aside time to complete it

Where possible, it is best for students to complete the survey independently, so their responses reflect their own experience.

How the results are used

After the survey closes, we review the results to understand what students have told us. This feedback helps inform:

  • school improvement priorities
  • discussions with School Council
  • our ongoing School Implementation Plan

We will also share key findings with interested families through the Virtual Parents Victoria community.

Thank you for supporting your child to take part in the survey. Your support helps ensure student voice continues to shape our school.

Warmly,
