Executive Principal’s Message

In this edition of our eNews, we are focusing on the power of “little wins” — those small but meaningful moments that build confidence, strengthen wellbeing, and help students move forward in their learning journeys.

Across the school this term, our teams continue to create environments where these moments can occur. In the Primary and Middle Years, connection and confidence often begin in simple ways through our teacher-facilitated clubs. These spaces allow students to explore shared interests and creative expression in a relaxed setting, away from the pressures of formal online learning. For our Senior School students, the little wins look different but are no less important. Here, they are found in the study habits and organisational skills being steadily developed, forming the solid foundation that supports students as they navigate the increasing academic demands of their final years.

Alongside learning, our commitment to student and family wellbeing remains central. In this edition, and in alignment with National eSmart Week, our Student and Parent Wellbeing articles focus on the safe and responsible navigation of online spaces. We share guidance on what families and students might notice when online experiences become concerning, how the school can provide support and advice, and the processes involved when issues occurring beyond our monitored school systems and software require further escalation. As a school community, we remain committed to the safety of our students and to supporting the development of thoughtful, responsible digital citizens who take care in the online environments they engage with.

This edition also highlights the importance of strong foundations in learning through our Subject Focus on English, showcasing the thoughtful and dedicated work of our teachers in supporting students to build confidence and capability in this essential area. We also reflect on the achievements of students who have travelled significant learning journeys with us, including those enrolled under the medical category, whose progress speaks to the empathy and expertise of our teaching staff. Finally, we acknowledge the valuable role of School Council, who last week demonstrated their support for staff during the Stop Work industrial action advocating for fair and equitable working conditions, recognising that strong support for our teachers ultimately enables the best outcomes for our students.

As you read through VSV Life, I encourage you to look for the moments where growth is happening — sometimes quietly, sometimes gradually, but always meaningfully. These little wins are often the building blocks of the larger successes we celebrate later.

On behalf of the teachers and staff of VSV, I wish our students and their families a safe term break.

Warm regards,
Executive Principal
