From Online to On-Campus

Ruby began her journey with VSV in Term 2, 2023, as a Year 7 student. Previously, Ruby faced significant challenges with anxiety and, despite various supports and repeated efforts, found it difficult to attend a traditional school setting. Shifting to VSV provided the circuit-breaker she needed—a different pace, a different structure.

Throughout her time at VSV, Ruby has thrived academically, especially in Civics and Citizenship, and Geography, discovering a genuine passion for these subjects. Beyond academics, Ruby’s confidence has steadily expanded. She has actively engaged in VSV camps and excursions, and even completed a barista course, which has led to her first part-time job in a local café.

Socially, Ruby has found her footing again. She has developed meaningful friendships within VSV, catching up with friends regularly and rediscovering the joy of connecting with peers.

Most importantly, Ruby has embraced the role of an independent learner. She now takes pride in managing her own schedule, attending classes, and meeting deadlines; skills that will benefit her throughout high school and into her future university studies, which she is excited to pursue.

Ruby and her family recognise and have expressed deep gratitude for the exceptional support, encouragement, and guidance Ruby has received from VSV staff. They describe her teachers as instrumental in helping her flourish and providing unwavering dedication and support.

As Ruby prepares to transition back to an on-campus secondary school, she does so with a sense of pride. While she will miss her VSV community, she carries forward everything she has learned here, yet another reminder of the unique nature of learning pathways.
