As we approach the end of another busy term, I want to extend an acknowledgement to our students, staff, and families for your efforts during Term 3. Whether you’ve been engaging with virtual classes and modules, supporting your child/young person, or involved in the life and times of Virtual School Victoria, your contribution has not gone unnoticed.
I am writing this prelude to the newsletter on R U OK? Day, and I’m reminded of the importance of checking in with one another, opening up conversations, and offering support where it’s needed. This day is a timely reminder of how vital it is to care for our wellbeing, and as we head into the holiday break, it’s also important to pause and reflect on the role rest and relaxation play in maintaining and improving our mental health.
The holidays offer a much-needed opportunity to step away from the demands of daily study and work. Taking a break is essential, not just for recharging our physical energy, but for nurturing our hearts and minds. Whether it’s through spending time with loved ones, enjoying the outdoors, or simply taking a moment of stillness, it’s important to find what helps you reset and restore balance.
I encourage everyone to use this holiday break as an opportunity for self-care. Just as we take the time to check in with others, don’t forget to check in with yourself. How are you feeling? What do you need to return to the next term refreshed and ready to engage with new learning opportunities or to support the children or young people in your life?
On behalf of the entire VSV leadership team, I wish you all a restful, enjoyable, and mentally rejuvenating break. I look forward to seeing you return with renewed energy and focus next term.
