Alison has seen an incredible transformation in her son, Deni, since he started at VSV at the end of Term 1.

In a few months, the Year One student has grown from a child who avoided conversations, because he couldn’t put his words together, into a child who confidently chats with almost anyone.

Alison said that Deni struggled with the bright light, loud noises and lots of people at his mainstream school.

‘He couldn’t cope. He became anxious and found it difficult to concentrate,’ she said.

It was a medical practitioner who suggested VSV.

‘My first reaction was, “Am I qualified enough to help him learn online?”’

‘After speaking to Mel, the Year 1 teacher, I realised I could do it. VSV offers so much support. I’m not doing it by myself. There’s a whole team helping us!’

‘Deni’s a different child now. He’s happier, more confident and very motivated with schoolwork.

‘He can see he’s excelling and wants to continue with it.

‘When he sees a pen now, he wants to write. When he sees a book, he wants to read,’ enthused Alison.

‘We have struggled for two years. There have been a lot of tears.

‘My husband and I are so thankful there is a service, like VSV, to help kids like Deni who can’t cope in mainstream schools.  Our only regret is that we didn’t start VSV earlier!’
